In Partnership with St George's Community Housing and Essex County Fire and Rescue Service, ALHCO have now fitted 1000 Smoke Alarms in the homes of Basildon residents.
The scheme sees gas engineers fitting free smoke alarms to all homes at the same time as the boiler service. Martin Trevillion, Basildon and Castle Point Community Command Community Safety Officer created the scheme, he said “I knew that every home had to have it’s boiler serviced regularly and thought that this was a great way to make sure that all homes had smoke alarms. We trained their engineers to fit the alarms and since last October they have been fitting them” Mark Harris, ALHCO’s Senior Operational Manager, said “It’s a great Partnership with the ECFRS, helping to save lives in the Basildon area. ALHCO will look forward to carrying on working in Partnership with ECFCS.” Please find details of the initiative on the Essex County Fire and Rescue Service Website: www.essex-fire.gov.uk
